1 Hotel Hanalei Bay

The beach is great, and there were almost always chairs free by the pool or beach. We were there in January at the start of rainy season, which might have helped. They also sent up a birthday cake, a really nice touch. The rooms were comfortable, though a little dark. Housekeeping was hit or miss but okay overall. The food was delicious and expensive, as expected. You pay for everything here, but they deliver better than other high-end resorts. By US standards they surpass most luxury hotels, although the service didn't compare with international places like the Oberoi. We were very happy with our stay and will be back.

During our week there, Jeff from F&B, Michael from bell, and especially Lavi from Guest Services always took a moment to say hello and have a nice conversation. I appreciate that kind of rapport on a longer stay. The property is comfortable, the views are lovely, and we liked the dining. Their coffee shop was better than any local shop we tried. The restaurant was good too, though expensive.

Zane Knochel and Edward Binder made a huge difference for my wife, our two daughters, and me. They found pool toys for the girls, brought diapers when my 2 year old ran out, and arranged blankets for our room. One of them even gave me his number in case anything didn't work out, then kept answering my texts and sorting things out after his shift. The attention from the staff felt genuine and was a breath of fresh air. The setting is beautiful whichever way you look, with gorgeous rooms, comfortable beds, an amazing pool, and a breathtaking private beach. This place was a joy, and we'll definitely return.

That breakfast buffet is still on my mind. There was a great range of quality food, including lovely vegan and vegetarian options, and the sushi at Welina Terrace was exquisite. Staff at the pools and beach were so accommodating, helping us find lounge chairs and making food and drink service easy. We also used the spotless, state-of-the-art gym, plus the pools and hot tubs. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and really comfortable. The bathroom was as big as our first Brooklyn apartment, and I'll never forget that shower. A tip: leave the curtains open at night. Waking up at 3am to the moonlit peaks of Hanalei Bay is a memory I'll keep forever. From the leis and welcome at the gate to Gabriella's check-in, welcome drink, property tour, and personal escort to our room, the service was exceptional from the start. The whole property is stunning, and the staff's kindness and care with the details made this a once-in-a-lifetime stay. Book the trip!
