The cliffside lookout was probably the best part of our stay at The Cliffs in Princeville. The pool was okay, but our room didn't have much of a view, despite the listing seeming to suggest an ocean view. Check-in was pleasant, though when I called later with a couple questions, I felt like I was bothering the staff. They also expect you to leave right on time for the 10:00 a.m. checkout. The room itself was very clean and practical. Having a full kitchen, full-size fridge, washer, and dryer made things easy, and the resort had beach chairs and a cooler for day trips. There's no food service, and the vending machine takes cash only, but a grocery store is nearby if you're cooking. This doesn't operate like a regular hotel. For families, especially at a good price, the space and kitchen, laundry, and beach gear make a lot of sense. For a couples trip, I'd probably pick somewhere else next time. It was comfortable, but didn't feel like a destination on its own.

The grounds at The Cliffs are beautiful, especially the cliffs above the crashing waves. If charming surroundings and breathtaking views are your thing, you'll love it. People looking for a modern, sleek place may not. The units are charming and functional, with a full kitchen and everything we needed. The staff were friendly and kind. There's no AC, and rainy days can feel humid, but the rooms stayed at a good temperature. The breeze was great with a couple of windows open, so we didn't feel we needed AC. It felt like the Hawaii we hoped for, and I'm glad we booked here. I'd happily stay again on a future trip to Kauai.

The views and amenities at The Cliffs at Princeville are nice, but the front desk left us feeling ignored and unwelcome. After our conversations, both staff members stopped making eye contact, turned away, and went back to their computers. It felt rude and unprofessional, and it left a sour impression of a place that caters to owners and repeat visitors. We urgently needed a feminine pad, and instead of checking whether they had one available for guests, a staff member simply directed us to a nearby store. That felt dismissive when we were dealing with a genuine emergency while traveling. We also asked for another complimentary bag of coffee. They provide one regular and one decaf bag for a week-long stay, and the response was, “We are a timeshare, not a hotel, so we don’t give out free stuff.” When I said I also own a timeshare and other properties offer such small courtesies, she cut me off and turned to her monitor. In my experience, extra coffee is often provided on request, so the response felt unnecessarily stingy. I hope management takes note. A little flexibility and basic courtesy would go a long way.

The condo was spacious and really comfortable, with everything we needed: beach chairs, a cooler, dishwasher, washer and dryer, plus an iron and ironing board. It's in a great spot overlooking the seemingly endless Pacific. We'd definitely stay again.

We booked our villa through Airbnb and had a lovely ocean view. The community itself is beautiful, with plenty of activities on site, a great gym, and a swimming pool. Food trucks also come on different days of the week for breakfast or dinner. The sunsets were spectacular, and it's an amazing place to stay when visiting Kauai.
