Club Wyndham Shearwater

Princeville is lovely, though it’s a bit far from most excursions. The beds were comfortable, the towels soft, and the view very nice. Parking was tight. The room itself had several problems: something moved around in the guest bathroom fan, the main bedroom toilet kept tapping after a flush, the washer left clothes dripping wet, and the dryer sometimes needed four cycles. Ants were also all over the kitchen, and there was no Wi-Fi. The dishwasher was broken, the food disposal was blocked, and hot water ran in the bathroom sink. I kept calling for service, but the hot water valve took all week to get replaced. I was really frustrated with how the beach equipment rental was handled. We’re at founders level after a huge investment, but three concierge reps gave me different answers. Brooke said equipment was onsite for owners to use and could be arranged for the day we needed it. Collette left a message saying she’d forgotten to give me my rentals, even though I hadn’t needed them yet; when I called back, she said to stop by when we did. Then the third rep said I had to sit through a 30 minute meeting just to use the chairs and umbrellas for a couple of hours that afternoon. The others hadn’t mentioned that condition. What a crock. We’d invested a fortune with Wyndham and were already at the highest level, yet couldn’t borrow the beach gear sitting in a closet. My advice is to stay far away from Wyndham. They don’t seem concerned with even small services, keep up the high pressure sales, and often reduce a level’s benefits to get you to buy more to maintain them.

The view of the ocean is stupendous, especially from the Presidential suite, though getting there means climbing lots of stairs. The rooms and beds are good. There’s no air conditioning, but we didn’t need it, and there are no elevators.

Everything is ocean front at this beautiful Princeville resort. Our big two bedroom unit had a washer and dryer, dishwasher, and granite countertops. The pool and landscaping were nice too.
