Gloria at the front desk is amazing, and the views over the golf course and ocean are great. If you're choosing between a studio and one bedroom, go for the one bedroom. It's huge by comparison, with a complete kitchen and, in my case, a giant ocean-facing lanai. The upgrade for the week wasn't much more. You also get access to the gym and pickleball courts at the Bali Hai, which is very nice.

We had such a fun stay, with unlimited Mai Tais in the lobby on Friday and margaritas with karaoke on Saturday. Make time to venture over to Wyllie’s Beach. Just be ready for the roosters to wake you at 5:20am. There's not much escaping that. Mahalo for the good times.

The gazebo wrap-around style appealed to me, and Princeville is a great location, just a few minutes' drive from Hanalei. The rooms are dated and have no AC. The sliding doors and screens were rusted. Since the design gives neighbors a full view of you, you really have to keep the curtains closed for privacy. The timeshare pitch was weird. Just give me my room without delaying check-in or trying to bribe me back with “gifts”.

I've rarely written a review, but this stay pushed me to speak up. The property looked okay at first, but the room was so dusty and unclean that I didn't feel comfortable unpacking. We ended up leaving early. After RCI couldn't find us another place, we paid out of pocket for a different hotel because staying here was so uncomfortable. The towel rules at the pool were frustrating: one per person, even though you're expected to use the same towel on a lounge chair that didn't feel clean and to dry off. Getting more towels was like pulling teeth. We requested fresh ones from room service and waited a very long time. They finally came around 8 PM, despite our “Do Not Disturb” sign. Staff knocked loudly and persistently, waking my husband. That disregard for privacy wasn't okay. There was no proper air conditioning, so we had to keep the windows open. The poor-quality blinds left us with practically no privacy. The front desk staff weren't welcoming either, and the interaction felt colder than you'd expect even at an average hotel. The place might look decent, but the room conditions and whole experience were disappointing enough that we chose to leave early.
