Mirella made it easy and quick to find my room, and I really liked how friendly and helpful she was. I had a room tucked at the far end, set apart from everyone else, with a window facing the back. That kept the noise down even on a busy Friday and Saturday night on thayer st. It would've been louder on the other side of the hall. The other guests were quiet and respectful, and the location is amazing for the price. I had a really great two-day stay at mitchie house. The downsides: there was no parking, and the bathroom ran out of toilet paper on my first day and still hadn't been restocked when I left two days later. My towel also had a somewhat questionable stain. Everything else was really good for the price, and I'd stay again.

My February plans to visit Providence were disrupted by a big Blizzard Warning on the East coast and a canceled flight. Stefano, the manager, kept my reservation available for a later trip, so I was able to come in April and stay two nights without paying anything extra. I really appreciate that, Stefano, and hope to return to Michie Hostel. The location is great, about a 10-minute walk from downtown. The third-floor apartments are nice, with a large private kitchen and two bathrooms.

It's a simple, affordable hostel, and pretty much what you'd expect for the price. I was visiting on a budget, though some guests were staying longer term, so it seems to work for both. Everyone I met was friendly and easy to talk to. The bunk rooms were standard hostel fare, and housekeeping did a great job cleaning and washing the sheets. I would've liked more outlets and lamps by the beds. There's a basic kitchen in the common area. Check-in and check-out are self-service, so you'll need to download an app to unlock the door. I don't think I met anyone from management, but Stefano and the team keep things running fine. The neighborhood isn't nice, so use common sense to stay safe. It's near downtown and the R, 17, 19, and 20 bus lines, which makes it handy for getting around. One thing to know: the ground floor is a nightclub on Saturday nights until about 2 a.m., and the music is loud enough to rattle the rooms. If you're a light sleeper, you might want to stay out late Saturday or join the party downstairs.

I arrived late and hadn't checked in through the app. Luckily, Derian was on the phone and helped me open the door remotely. When an issue came up with my room, he quickly found a solution and stayed patient and kind throughout. He reassured me, stayed available until I was comfortable in the new room, and called several times to check that everything was all right and the setup worked for me. I can't thank Derian enough. Without his help, my stay in Providence could have been a disaster. Thanks so much for everything. I have very good memories of Providence and Michie Hostel.

I've stayed at Michie Hostel twice over the past two years, and both times the atmosphere felt friendly and welcoming. It was easy to meet people and feel at home. Stefano deserves a special mention for going above and beyond with his kindness and service. He's always helpful and attentive, and clearly cares about making guests comfortable. I'd happily recommend this relaxed, community-minded place.
