My room was beside a bar, and the noise was incredibly loud. Outside the window was a view of a dirty alley. The room was small, had no closet, and the worn furnishings made the place feel run down. There's no phone in the room to call the front desk; you have to use the one in the hall. The shower was small and the curtain blew inward, and the broken AC unit above the door was noisy. Parking is in a public lot on a first-come basis. You can pay for in-and-out access with a QR code if there's still space when you return, but I used the code and still got a $63 parking ticket. This hotel isn't as advertised. It's loud and dirty. Do not stay here.

The room was tiny but gorgeous, with an old French feel and an old-timey photo look throughout that made for great pictures. I slept well, and the shower was beautiful. The staff were very nice and accommodating, ready to help find whatever you need. The restaurant, bar, and lounge are connected, and you can walk anywhere downtown from here. Glad I stumbled across this place.

I came back from dinner to find another guest had been given access to my room, even though I'd checked in under my own name. The front desk said they handed that person a key because we shared the same name. They didn't ask for ID or check a booking confirmation. My belongings, privacy, and safety were put at risk because no basic verification was done before giving someone access to an occupied room. Sharing a name doesn't establish identity, and I'm alarmed that this seems acceptable here. I expect a hotel to protect its guests, not hand over a room key to someone who gives a matching first name. This was careless, unprofessional, and a serious security breach. I want a clear explanation of how it happened and what steps are being taken to prevent another guest from going through the same thing.

As a Providence local, I recently tried the new restaurant Memeres. I didn't stay at the hotel, but I'm still thinking about the meal. I've eaten at plenty of places in Providence, and this was unlike anything I've had here. It felt like a real tasting menu from the start. The salmon roe appetizer was incredible, and somehow each course after that was even better. I tried beef tartare and duck for the first time, and the crispy duck was easily one of the best things I've ever eaten. The filet was unreal and genuinely tasted like Kobe beef. Even the final cheese course with honeycomb was on another level. The care showed in the pacing and presentation, and in how each course led into the next. It felt thoughtful without being pretentious. I don't usually go to French restaurants, but this blew my mind. One of my most memorable dining experiences in Rhode Island.

The location made getting around easy. We could walk to the train station, mall, parks, restaurants, and waterfront, which I especially appreciated as a mom traveling with my child. My son and I had a warm, memorable stay at Neptune. The hotel has a beautiful building with lots of character. Its signature scent made it feel cozy as soon as we walked in, and the historic, intimate, artistic atmosphere seemed thoughtfully preserved. My son loved the vintage gated elevator and the old-world details. The lobby was comfortable and welcoming, with music and little places to sit. There's a café downstairs, plus plenty of nearby food options. Our room was cozy, comfortable, and felt safe for both of us. The vintage design gave it a distinctive boutique feel: the lighting, wooden floors, antique-style fixtures, and old-fashioned hallway phone setup all added to it. The building shows some age, as you'd expect, but the hotel felt clean, calm, and thoughtfully maintained. I felt comfortable there with my 10-year-old son. Dynashia and Anchantee were incredibly kind and accommodating. The staff held our luggage while we explored, helped with directions and water refills, and took care of whatever we needed. When we first arrived, Dynashia even carried my son's suitcase to the elevator, which I really appreciated. The stay also got my son asking about architecture and why historic buildings are preserved, which made the trip feel more special. Neptune felt warm, creative, peaceful, and full of personality. I'd absolutely stay again and recommend it to anyone looking for a character-filled boutique hotel in Providence.
