Quality Inn Pueblo North

The mattress gave us the best sleep of our whole vacation, and we were so comfortable we wanted to stay longer. Our room was clean, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The lobby was clean and roomy enough not to feel cramped when busy. The hotel is clearly decades old, but it's been cared for and doesn't really show its age. The front desk experience was perfect. Breakfast was average and nothing fancy, much like other places, but it filled us up and we were content. The TV had plenty of good entertainment options for winding down. The parking lot could use resurfacing, though the spaces were marked clearly. We'd spent six nights in six different hotels while touring New Mexico and Colorado, and this was the one we wished we could have stayed in the whole time. We had a really good experience.

I plan to come back. The prices are reasonable, the rooms clean and comfortable, and breakfast was adequate. Everyone we dealt with, from reception to housekeeping, was kind, professional, and accommodating. Kudos to this Pueblo gem.

We'd paid for the room through hotwire because it said there was no deposit. At check-in, the desk worker was rude and told us the hotel had new management and now required a security deposit. The policy I looked up said only locals had to pay that fee. It wasn't an outrageously large amount, but emergencies don't wait until you have money for a deposit. You can be lucky to have even $100 to your name when one happens. We were already dealing with a family emergency, so we'll take our business elsewhere. As a public service announcement, don't stay here if you're facing one. To the night desk worker, I hope you get the night you deserve, and it isn't a good one.

The pool was a good size and pleasantly warm, and the hot tub was large too. Staff were friendly, and the hotel was close to shopping and restaurants. The rooms felt old and a little outdated, with a strong cheap cologne smell that seemed like it might be covering something else. The window was screwed shut, so we couldn't air the room out. I was disappointed that the pool wasn't open when staff said it would be. They'd told us it stayed open until 11, but when we went an hour before, the lights were off and a sign said it was closed until 10 a.m. Since checkout is at 11, there's no time to swim then.
