We stayed two nights. At first the room seemed pleasant, with a microwave and refrigerator that both worked well. The sheets were surprisingly clean, but it was obvious surfaces hadn't been wiped and things hadn't been moved to vacuum. On the second night, after we cooked, we found cockroaches. I've visited lake George all my life and never come across a roach in any of its hotels before. The night man who checked us in was rude, dressed like a slob, and had absolutely no people skills. I won't stay at this particular super 8 again.
We were put on the second floor even though I'd requested downstairs when booking because I'm disabled. They couldn't accommodate me. I assume it was because of the kids and other people I saw in the lobby, who seemed to be residents. The ice machine also never worked during our entire stay, and the staff outside passing bowls looked very unprofessional. This motel is poorly run. As I write this on night three, I'm beyond disgusted. The TV didn't work when we arrived on the first night. I called down, and a very sweet young lady said she'd come right up, but after two hours I called again. When she finally came, she saw it was hooked up wrong. The rooms are outdated, the bed was uncomfortable, and the pillows were tiny. We froze the first night because the heater only worked if we turned it up to 75, and the bedding was just a sheet, a thin blanket, and something like a thin drape. They ask guests to reuse towels and linens to be green, which I guess is a minor thing. From the first night, we didn't have even lukewarm shower water. The staff said there'd been an earlier issue and they'd send maintenance, but no one came. My fiance asked again two hours later, and they said they'd put in a request. All three nights we took cold showers and were freezing afterward. I understand budget prices, but this was a very unenjoyable stay. We paid a great price, but I will NEVER stay here again or recommend it. We stayed at another budget motel one exit away during Thanksgiving Holiday, and it was amazing. They should put in a little effort. When I reserved, I requested a downstairs room because I'm disabled, but they couldn't give us one. The ice machine didn't work the whole time, either. And the staff outside passing bowls seemed very unprofessional. This is a poorly run motel.
For $80, we got a room where we could sleep after a christmas party. The bed was comfy, but the bathroom was only clean-ish, the rugs were kind of gross, and the TV didn't work. The whole hallway reeked of cigarettes even though you sign paperwork saying no smoking or vaping. There was a naked baby running through the lobby, while the woman at the front desk was very nice. We skipped breakfast because McDonalds is right across the street and an egg mcmuffin was calling my name. It wasn't a bad stay, but you get what you pay for.
We rented a room for two days over Thanksgiving. There was no hot water for showers, and the tub was clogged and wouldn't drain. They told us a hot water tank was down and a new one had been ordered, but offered no apology or compensation. I think guests should be told ahead of time, or at least given a discount. I'm Ken Scott, so they know this isn't an anonymous complaint. I'll never stay at this super 8 again.
We booked a room for the night because our semi was being worked on at a shop down the road. On the phone, I asked if they were pet friendly and was told yes. After a very nice employee from the garage dropped us off, we went to check in and found out only dogs were allowed. We have a cat, and we were willing to pay a deposit. The front desk clerk called the manager when we asked, but the manager turned us down. We were left stranded in the parking lot calling every hotel nearby. If certain pets aren't allowed, the website should say so.
