Wakita Motel

Joanna, the manager, was fantastic, friendly, and helpful, and did her best to make our stay pleasant despite the condition of the place. She said they were working on renovating the bathrooms for the following year, so I’d expect those to be better by around next summer. The motel is in a very good spot, right next to The Great Escape and within walking distance, with Martha's Dandy Cream across the street, one of the best ice cream places I’ve been to. The room was pretty old and needs major updating. The TV was nice, the coffee machine seemed up to date, though we don’t drink coffee, and both the AC and mini fridge worked fine. But the bathroom needed a lot of work: an odd-looking sink, no hair dryer, and a really old shower with poor plumbing. The bed was the dealbreaker for me. The mattress was REALLY hard and uncomfortable, hurt my back, and made it hard to sleep all night. I’d want the mattresses replaced along with the bathrooms. Even if the bathrooms are renovated, I couldn’t stay again with a mattress that uncomfortable. We were there for one night six months ago while visiting The Great Escape, and I want to thank Joanna again for making it as pleasant as she could.
