Gold Pan Lodge

Good value for a budget lodge. It's safe and clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. There's a lot of foot traffic, especially from road contractors. The continental breakfast is average.

During our four-day stay, housekeeping cleaned the room only once. They didn't clean the coffee pot or leave coffee, and skipped replacing the toilet paper, washcloths, and tissues. We had no washcloths or hand soap to begin with. Basic things, and somehow they weren't there. The room itself was awful for the price. Food was still on the floor, the sinks were clogged, the tub wouldn't drain, and water came out from under the shower more than from the showerhead. The bathroom door hit the toilet before it could open all the way. There was also dust, chipped paint, and cigarette burns. This was literally the worst and most expensive hotel room I've paid for. They may be able to charge so much because they're the only place in town, but stay at your own peril. If they have upgraded rooms that are actually nice, the BBB should hear about charging me what I paid for the room I got.

I was unsure after reading the other reviews, but we had no complaints about our suite with a spa. The sink drained very slowly, though it really wasn't a big issue. I'd absolutely recommend staying here.

The free breakfast was surprisingly good, and you can rent DVDs for free. There are also lovely mountain views and several bars and places to eat just around the corner. The rooms felt a little dingy and cramped, with worn carpets.
