We’re disappointed after our first stay and won’t return or recommend this hotel. Valet parking costs $35, and the HVAC in our room hummed so loudly it sounded as if it might fail. My husband had left new jeans and socks on top of the closet safe, with $270 cash in the jeans’ pockets. We realized an hour after leaving and called. We offered to drive back before heading to Wilmington, NC, but were told no because the room had been cleaned and was occupied. Housekeeping had left for the day, so we were told to call the next morning and ask for Janette. When I called, the front desk wouldn’t transfer me, but said he’d speak to her and call back. An hour later he said the room had been checked and nothing was found. The jeans had just cost $100, and the Ralph Lauren socks were $30. My husband was very upset. We know we left everything there and had even offered to come back right away. I’m sincerely disgusted by what feels dishonest. I’ve had housekeeping contact me about forgotten items at other places before I even knew I’d left them. I appreciate staff who notify guests about lost property. Don’t stay here if you’re worried about things you might forget.

The parking setup looks intimidating when you first arrive, but it’s easy once you see how it works. There’s a short walk to a large, roomy garage, and the gentleman out front who handles valet was fantastic. Give him a few bucks and he’ll look after you. The hotel feels ultra modern, with clean rooms, nice service, and large spaces. Some rooms have kitchens or kitchenettes. I can’t say enough about the staff. It’s the best hotel I’ve stayed at, and I’d give it ten stars, even though I don’t travel much these days.

Tyler’s care made my Hyatt stay a really positive one. He was warm, professional, and attentive from the start, making check-in smooth and making sure the room worked for me. It was clean, comfortable, and spacious. He answered my questions thoughtfully and paid attention to details. He clearly cares about the work and helped me feel welcome. Thanks, Tyler. I’ll come back and recommend the hotel because of staff like you.

I got a good Expedia rate, and at that price this is a great choice. It’s around a 15 minute walk to the Convention Center, and the neighborhood is quiet and walkable, with a decent number of restaurants and shops. I parked on the street near the nearby University. My second-floor room was very quiet. I didn’t hear doors slamming or people next door or above, and street noise was muffled enough that my white-noise machine drowned it out. The hotel and room were clean, the room and linens smelled fresh, and room service did a good job freshening things up. The shower was hot and the included toiletries were nice quality. Breakfast was pretty good overall, standard free hotel fare. The potatoes were rock hard and awful, so I only tried them once. I wish they had more plain black tea instead of so many odd fruity herbal options. One evening the elevator smelled awful, but it didn’t reach my room, so it didn’t bother me much. I mostly use hotels to sleep, so I can’t speak to many of the amenities.

There are two well-lit, easy-to-reach parking garages within a short walk. Up on the hotel’s top floor, there’s a lovely place to hang out with friends, with two bars, tables, booths, and a heated outdoor patio that can be reserved for small groups or events. It gets loud later in the evening. The food and drinks were delicious. I loved the Caesar salad, and the waiter’s suggestion of The Depression instead of my usual Old Fashioned turned out to be a great call.
