The next morning, the housekeeper checked in to see if I was okay, then around 9:30 the owner came by and asked to look inside. The room was clean apart from the blood. He told me he'd keep my deposit, never let me return, and call the police because I'd bled on the floor and the ground outside the door. He was rude, and I left. I wouldn't recommend staying here if someone is stalking you and wants to hurt you. The front desk told my ex which room I was in, and I hadn't realized the door didn't latch. He walked straight in, busted my lip, and I bled quite a bit both inside and outside the room. He got spooked and left.

This is an older, quaint motel, but it seems to have had extensive renovations and was quiet. The rooms are spread across several buildings on the hillside. It works for a night and would be especially good for a longer stay while visiting Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Deadwood, Sturgis, The Badlands, Downtown Rapid City, or other nearby attractions. I'll choose it again if I return. Our room was clean, with an excellent tub and shower, a toilet, and a large mirror and vanity with sink. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and we had a good microwave, mini-fridge, and brand-new widescreen TV. The A/C unit was noisy but worked. Management and staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was fresh with plenty of choices. It isn't the Hilton, but it's impressive for its class. Highly recommend.

The stay was awful, and we cut our planned four nights short to book another hotel. My dad had reserved three rooms for our family traveling together in one vehicle, expecting them to be near each other, but they weren't. The desk clerk also refused the requested accessible room with a king or queen bed, saying the only accommodation was parking outside the door, which everyone could do. My dad has had two knee replacements and a shoulder replacement, so he needed the accessible setup and at least a higher toilet. When I explained that, the clerk said he was short enough to adjust. That was insulting and uncaring. We checked in anyway. We were charged a $30 early check-in fee per room, even though it was around 2:30-3 p.m., so we waited for regular check-in instead. Outside our room, a trash bin full of garbage was never emptied after we reported it. Bees gathered around it, and one stung my uncle. Other issues included a missing safety chain, though part of one was still there, and a long wait after asking at least three times for an extra pillow. The toilet was too low, the seats were loose, and there were no safety bars around the toilet or tub. Outside looked filthy and unkempt. The A/C was mounted high in the bathroom area, so we had to stand on a chair to see how to operate it. The laundry room was filthy, with used Q-tips, lint, and paper on the floor, plus large holes in the drywall behind the machines. The clerk brushed it off as daily use, which I didn't believe. Only one of three dryers worked. We thought two of the three washers worked, but one stopped in the rinse cycle. The clerk didn't help us or refund the broken washer, so we did our best to dry the clothes. Getting back to our room was a small hike, and the path was dark, with inadequate lighting when some lights eventually came on. The night before leaving, I told the clerk we were checking out and asked for a refund. She refused. Wyndham should inspect this place. We've stayed at another Wyndham property and never dealt with service like this.

I stay in plenty of hotels, but I won't come back here. The front desk was curt and acted like my questions were a bother, and they wouldn't allow a late checkout. No phone in the room to call them, either. Breakfast had already been packed away before 9, and nobody gave me any details about it. The bed had only sheets layered on it, no proper blanket.

Our rooms weren't ready until around 3, and the front desk woman was unfriendly. She'd also asked for another $20 if we checked in an hour early. We had driven 150 miles to Rapid City because a family member was having surgery, and although the price seemed decent, the rooms were awful. The advertised photo of the "nice room" looked nothing like what we got. In room #135, a bolt was missing from the toilet seat, the AC was taped together with a filthy filter, and the TV worked only when it felt like it. In #136, both the AC and bathroom exhaust fan were noisy. There weren't enough towels, extra lights, or chairs. The king bed had two cheap, flat pillows and no spare blanket. There were dark hairs in the tub and around the room, no Bible or pen and paper, and no TV instructions. We eventually figured out the TV box needed a wall light switch turned on. Breakfast was a joke. I've worked as a hotel housekeeper, and this was the worst place I've seen. Don't spend your time or money here.
