Eagle Crest on the Green

I've been coming here a few times a year for 37 years, since I was born, and still love it. This place feels like my second home. The reservation company changed, and I preferred the old system. Things seemed cleaner, and the process worked better. They also need a better way to handle the passes for the rec center. Two isn't enough, especially when five of us are doing different things and have to track them down. I wish the hot tub stayed open later, too. Still love this place.

I'm here at the resort writing this review. This place feels like a dinosaur of a hotel, and it badly needs an update. The phone in my room doesn't work, the alarm clock doesn't work, the AC doesn't work, and I can't get the hot water working. The rooms look exactly as they did 15 years ago. Worst $350 I've ever spent, for my birthday.

Just an awful experience. This may be the worst “resort” we've stayed at, and certainly the worst for this price. There's a constant damp, wet smell. All four headboards across our two rooms had damaged vinyl, and the furnishings clearly aren't for people used to decent quality. We were in town for a funeral and booked directly through the site so our two parties would be a couple of doors apart, as we'd been told. Instead we ended up at opposite ends of this rundown hotel, too far apart to walk between. They said they were sold out, but on a Sunday through Tuesday, in the middle of nowhere with no events in town, I find that doubtful. They wouldn't fix it, even though there were children who needed supervision. The bathroom floor had someone else's black hair all over it when we arrived. Housekeeping had gone home, they said, so I scrubbed it myself. The TVs are oddly small, about 32 inches in every room. The AC squealed, and there was a sound machine to cover that and the noise of people walking overhead. There are so many nicer places in the area.

We spent a week here in February, and Unit 318 had all the little touches that made it feel like home. The two-bedroom place was set up for cooking, with well-stocked bathrooms and bedrooms. The grounds were gorgeous and well kept, and the inviting living room and upstairs master bedroom looked out over mountains and a snow-covered golf course. We came to explore Redmond and enjoy winter activities, and ECR was a perfect base. It was only 20-25 minutes to Bend and close to trails, waterfalls, and other winter outings. Check-in at 6p seemed late, so we called to say we might arrive a couple of hours earlier. They couldn't promise the unit would be ready, but it was when we got there by 4p. Thanks to the front desk staff! The unit was very clean, too. We also peeked into two of the sport complexes, which looked great for working out or getting in some pickleball. Looking forward to coming back.
