If you want an Airbnb-style room, perhaps this place will work. For a business trip where convenience matters, I wouldn’t recommend it, especially if you expect a traditional star hotel experience. The rooms are inside an apartment complex. You’ll see a leasing office, but no hotel sign, lobby, or reception desk. The Google Maps pin is in the middle of nowhere, and the listed phone number didn’t work. Check-in instructions come by email, but you may miss them if they land in spam. With no front desk, service is limited. You may also happen to get a room near the street, which can be very noisy.
A friend stayed here the same week as I did and couldn’t get into his room for two days because the on-site employee couldn’t return to reset the lock. That alone is a good reason to stay at a real hotel. GLS also has awful service. Before reserving, they require photos of your ID and credit cards. I uploaded a different card and explicitly asked them to remove the first one, but they charged the wrong card anyway. They refunded it, but I’ve waited more than two weeks for the money. Support is slow, too. It took almost four days just to get an itemized receipt.
The room itself was great, and the two-bedroom, two-bath unit with a full kitchen gave our family of three the space we needed. But the problems made the stay miserable. We paid $1,250 for three nights and couldn’t watch TV once, even though the NBA playoffs were on. I called repeatedly. The call center seemed to be somewhere far away, and they’d call back the next day at odd hours. Communication and customer service were horrific. Our unit faced the street and got noisy from cars. The parking pass gave no guidance about indoor or outdoor parking, or how to find the space. Once we figured it out, the spot was miles from the unit. In the master bath, a leak under the sink was pouring water out. We heard dripping and found it, but got no response or help, so we just had to put up with it. They also said the A/C couldn’t go below 70 because the unit would leak. Why not fix that? I’m still waiting for billing to confirm a refund for the inconvenience, and can’t get anyone on the phone. I took pictures and a timestamped video in case I need them. Their reviews get apologies and promises to improve, but from what I saw, nothing has changed since the 2022 reviews. We booked late for a trip to SF and needed this kind of space, which is why we took a chance after reading the reviews. The unit was nice, but the experience outweighed that. The pictures look good and the price is high. Don’t waste your time and money if you want a response or refund after your stay.
We arrived to music playing, which made the apartment feel really welcoming. It was in good shape and everything worked. Check-in and checkout were easy, and the instructions were clear and detailed. Having a kitchen was a big plus for our dietary restrictions. There was a dishwasher, but soap for just one load, and the same went for the clothes washer. We ended up washing dishes by hand. Still, we had a great experience.
Disliked: There’s a kennel right beside the property, so dogs bark all day and especially at night. BlueBird also charged $250 to my card without warning. When I asked why, they said I had a pet in the room, but I didn’t have one. I explained that, and they didn’t care. This is insane. Liked: The pool and arcade were good for families.
