We loved starting the day with the sit-down breakfast alongside the other guests. Every meal was delicious, and they even prepared special dishes for people with food allergies. We stayed in the Gardener's Room last October, and it was warm and cozy, with its own private entrance. George and Sandra Baker were wonderful hosts. George pointed us toward the best restaurants in town, and his suggestions were spot on. Sandra also took care of a special request, making our weekend feel magical. The Baker House has a special atmosphere: we arrived as guests and left feeling like we were leaving friends, family, and home.

I booked Bakers Inn because I had an event at Omega and the accommodations there were full. That turned out to be lucky. This beautifully kept Victorian B&B is quiet and peaceful, and would suit a romantic weekend or a solo break. My room was spotless, and the welcoming feel made it easy to settle in despite the home's age. The antique furnishings and ornate architecture give the place a real Victorian character. I love history, and being surrounded by all those details felt like stepping into another time. George and Sandra were genuinely kind and attentive innkeepers, which made the stay even better. I highly recommend it and would return next time I'm in the Hudson Valley.

The Writer's Room was spacious and lovely, especially the huge shower with a bench on each side. George and Sandra have been restoring the building since buying it in neglected condition, after previously running an antique shop in Manhattan. You could see the care in the details, right down to George clipping garden flowers for our table. Breakfast was gourmet, and happy hour drinks and conversation were a treat. One evening we chatted by the fire pit so long that we were late for our dinner reservation. The location made it easy to walk to and from town several times. Another couple had come by train from Brooklyn and found it easy to get around on foot.

The Baker House made getting around Rhinebeck easy. It's within walking distance of town, so we didn't need to drive or worry about finding an Uber after an evening out. We'd usually spend a few nights in Kingston or Rhinebeck after dropping our twins at camp nearby, and after travel paused during COVID, we were glad to do it again. Choosing this B&B was a great call. The house and sizable grounds are beautiful, and our hosts have done a lovely job renovating both. We stayed in the Writer's Room, which was so large it could pass for a suite, and it had a private porch. The bathroom was clean with a large double shower, and the room felt like a relaxing retreat. George and Sandra were lovely hosts. George made delicious cocktails for happy hour each night, with good conversation, and Sandra's breakfasts were yummy. We also appreciated their tips on local restaurants and things to see. After a few years without travel, this was a really positive experience and a reminder of how enjoyable it can be.
