Days Inn & Suites Richfield

The kids absolutely loved the pool and play area. The room was okay and fairly clean for an older building, and the staff stayed friendly and helpful even though our exhausted, stressed family was a bit frazzled. The price was very reasonable for what we got. Still, our non-smoking room and the hallways smelled like smoke. I think the AC filters need changing, since the air was uncomfortable for my mildly asthmatic lungs. My child was wheezing too, and usually only needs an inhaler about once a year. There weren't any towels at the pool, and other guests said they'd stayed before and knew to bring their own.

We left in a hurry because the kiddie pool was so disgusting, its water was the same color as the carpet. The hallway had trash and gritty crumbs, and the room wasn't much better. When we first checked in, the fitted sheets were stained, the bathroom mirror was dirty, and the tub had a film inside and some hair. We asked for the room to be cleaned while we went out to get swim shoes so the kids wouldn't have to walk barefoot through the grimy halls. The room looked clean when we came back, but the sheets still had visible stains. We'd booked a poolside view for my stepson's birthday, but the windows were too dirty to see the pool. The hotel looked decent at first, though outdated. I'm calling the manager tomorrow to ask for a refund, since the evening manager said he wasn't authorized to give one.

The kids liked the pool, which was pleasant enough, though small and a bit cold. The hot tub was disappointing, with barely working jets. There's also a big indoor play area. Breakfast was okay. I might stay again, but not at the price I paid. The hotel itself was adequate, though I didn't expect it to have no elevator, and the double beds really aren't big enough for two people.

There was plenty for the kids to do, including mini golf, swimming, a playground, and an arcade. The pool and hot tub were really nice, and the kids had a blast, so we still had a nice stay overall. The problems were the room and the afternoon service. The heater in our first room didn't work, and turning it up made the lights flicker until they all went out. I had to fiddle with a lamp to get them back on. When I asked for another room and explained why, the worker threw the keys onto the counter toward me, then turned and walked off while I was asking where the room was. Extremely rude. There was also a $10.00 charge for a roll-away bed, which is free at most hotels. If good service or a decent room aren't priorities, the place is great for kids.
