Days Inn by Wyndham Richland

The front desk woman was a huge help after I made a reservation mistake. The bed was very firm, almost hard, but somehow comfortable. There are a few good local restaurants nearby, and a lovely park by the Colombia River isn't far away. It worked well for a quick stop. The shower turned cold after being warm for only a little while, and breakfast was lacking. Still, it was a great experience for under $80.

The location is pleasant, beside a walking path and on the edge of the small downtown. We loved the Thai place a couple of blocks away, and the staff were nice. But the room disappointed us and didn't feel close to the Wyndham standard. It was reasonably clean, though the furniture was awkward, like a first apartment after high school. The bed had little support and a strange ridge, and you could feel the pillows were filled with cubes of foam. Small rooms don't bother me, but this one did.

The staff at the front desk were very welcoming, but the room was a mess. There was dog hair on the comforter and sheets, and the bed was rock hard. The toilet lid felt like it might fall off when lifted or lowered. I can accept old furnishings in a cheap room, but it still needs to be clean. The carpet was damp and freezing, and the floors were extremely uneven. It seems like the place needs foundation work.

The room itself was clean and stocked with nice towels and linens, and the man who checked us in was polite and kind. The trouble started the next morning. Breakfast was supposed to begin at 7, but when I went down at 7:30 there was no coffee, the milk was warm from being left out, the donuts were stale, one slice of bread was moldy, and the frozen waffles tasted freezer-burned after toasting. I told the woman at the desk, and she had a bad attitude, saying, "I apologize, but that is what there is for breakfast." At checkout, I planned to pay for another night and told housekeeping when she knocked. Before I could get to the office, the front desk woman called and said my name wasn't on the registration, so she couldn't take payment for another night. I explained that my boyfriend had added my name when we checked in the day before, in case I needed to pay for another night or get the deposit back. The next day she still said she couldn't return the deposit because, supposedly, my name wasn't listed. I had to leave around 11:30, and she refused to help even after I explained I needed the deposit for a taxi home to Pasco. My boyfriend had said he'd put my name on the room so it would be easier for me to get the deposit back. She didn't seem to care that I was stranded there for three and a half hours before I got a ride, with my phone dead too. The room was a great deal, but I won't return because of how rude she was.
