Days Inn Lexington SE/Hamburg

I traveled from Cleveland for work, and the third-party sites like priceline don’t mention that this Days Inn location requires a $100 deposit or a major credit card on file. If I hadn’t had my credit card, I would’ve been stuck. I won’t be coming back. I was going to give at least four stars despite some check-in problems, but after showering this morning I changed it to one. What I saw was appalling, and the fact that it hadn’t even been removed was disgusting. To me, it suggests Days Inn doesn’t clean its bathrooms properly or care about guests. Places like this seem to assume there’ll be a new traveler every day, so repeat customers don’t matter.

It’s quiet and feels safe, and the beds are comfortable with good linens. The so-called breakfast is a joke, though McDonald’s is very close. The rooms need updating, and the toilet felt like it was detached from the wall. For the price, it wasn’t too bad.

The room rate looks cheap, but they require a $100 cash deposit. I went ahead even though I had a bad feeling, and I’ve never stayed at another hotel that required cash like that. You won’t get the money back, one way or another they’ll find a reason to keep it. Save yourself the money.

We booked online and got assigned a smoking room, but the front desk clerk switched us to a non-smoking one. It was a basic room, a little dated but very clean, with a really comfortable bed. It’s convenient to I-75, and restaurants and shops are about eight minutes away. It’s a Days Inn, not a Hyatt.
