I picked Moxy Hotels for the minimalist, creative look and the location near the children's hospital. I was visiting a close family member and needed somewhere I could get work done, but basic service and communication fell badly short. There was no internet from Friday around 9 PM until checkout Sunday morning. Nobody told me before I arrived, though they often use the app and email to message guests, and it wasn't mentioned at check-in either. I only found out after settling in late at night to work. Even downstairs, there was no beer available for the complimentary drink on Friday, and nobody mentioned the WiFi outage. Once I realized there was no internet, the desk sent me to a third-party support line instead of offering a solution. I spent more than an hour and a half on the phone, including waiting for callbacks that never came. The hotel gave no proactive updates during the outage. I had to leave and pay for several Uber rides just to find reliable internet. That cost me time and money I could have spent with my nephew during an important visit. The 3,000 points they offered, about $33.75, didn't even cover the transportation. The design may look appealing, but at this price I expected transparency, accountability, and basic WiFi.

Loved the whole Moxy vibe, especially the friendly staff. Our check-in girl on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, was so personable, and I wish I'd gotten her name. We saw MELLOW on Saturday, 1/31/26, too. The * STASH* room is genius, with toothpaste, toothbrushes, towels, an ice bin, irons and ironing boards, shave kits, and lotions. My room was small, but the cute bunk beds along with the king bed worked for me. I also liked the little lobby-level nook rooms and the blue hallways. Thanks, Moxy, for a great stay. Heading to the bar soon!

We came for a birthday trip and had one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had after years of traveling. Ashley, who might be the manager, took over an hour to check us in. She sent us upstairs with keys that didn't work. After she supposedly fixed them, we went back and found another guest opening the door to the room we'd been assigned. Giving the same room to two groups is a serious safety issue and completely unprofessional. We went to the desk a third time to point out the mistake, and they gave us two free well drinks. Then we went through the same mess three more times. After an hour and a half, we finally got into a room with no windows. At checkout, we were charged twice. The staff were unbelievably inconsiderate and incompetent. Stay somewhere else. I'm deeply disappointed in the Marriott brand.

The lobby is a great spot for photos, and the welcome drink was delicious. The gift was a nice bonus too. My room had a funky feel with nice decor and furnishings. Just know that Moxy rooms don't have closets or dressers, though there were lots of hooks and hangers. Great location, and I'd definitely stay again.

Our family of three had a great stay. The unusual room layout made it feel bigger than a typical hotel room, and the staff were fantastic from start to finish. We walked to some restaurants and the capital. It's not right in the middle of everything Richmond has to offer, but we weren't dressed for the weather and didn't explore beyond a few blocks. We hope to return.
