The only good points are that it's beside the highway and close to downtown. The place felt sketchy and mostly abandoned, and it was easily the worst hotel I've stayed in. The room was filthy, with dirt, dust, ash, and cigarette butts all over the carpet. The door lock was broken and had been replaced with four batteries, and the dresser handle was a shoestring. There was no TV remote or in-room phone. Half the downstairs was locked off with “Unfit for human habitation” signs, and the elevator was broken. Staff were rude and reclusive. The bathroom towels were dirty and there were no rags. The advertised free breakfast wasn't available, though I might not have wanted it anyway. Somehow we didn't see bed bugs. I don't think the room had been cleaned since Alexander Hamilton dueled Aaron Burr. This place should be condemned and reported to the BBB. If I could give half a star, I would.

I felt comfortable here and had a great stay. The room was very clean, with clean sheets, pillows, and pillowcases. There were no roaches, mice, or other dirt in the room. Having a fridge and microwave was a plus. The hotel is being renovated, and I'm proud of the work they're putting in to improve it. Customer service was great, too. If you need something, they're there to help. Maria, one of the cleaning staff, was especially sweet and helpful.

I got there late for business, but left for another hotel as soon as I saw the room. It was dingy and nasty, and I didn't feel safe or comfortable staying there. I can't believe this place is still open. The photos are definitely old, and I've never stepped into a more disgusting hotel. The front desk staff were cold and unpleasant. Half the rooms were closed with their numbers painted over, there was no elevator, and the fitness room was boarded up. Yellow tape blocked off the lobby and parking ramp because of a crime earlier in the year, according to other reviews I read. The whole place smelled like smoke, the lobby was freezing and dark, and it seemed abandoned.

The internet didn't work, and there were lots of aggressive signs telling guests what they couldn't do. You have to ring a bell to get the front desk's attention, which is a little annoying, but once you reach them, the staff are friendly and helpful. The elevator was marked “temporarily out of service,” though I saw 2024 reviews saying it was already out then, so temporary doesn't seem right. I'll report it to the City of Richmond's code enforcement, though I doubt much will come of it. The room looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the Clinton administration. It was dirt cheap and close to downtown, so you can't beat it on price.

The area was quiet, and the people around were respectful. There was great food close by, and having a fridge and microwave was useful. For the price, it was a great stay with very clean rooms, good customer service, and a balcony as a bonus. The sheets, pillowcases, and rugs were clean, and I saw no bed bugs, roaches, or mice.
