Seldom Scene Meadow Bed & Breakfast

We packed up and left Sunday, though Leighanne let us stay past checkout so we didn't have to rush. It was my wife's birthday, and instead of a relaxing day at the bed and breakfast, we had to figure out what to do with our vacation. I wish Leighanne had apologized and taken responsibility. She'd agreed we could stay on the second floor during the Sunday dinner reception, but then suggested we leave without explaining things clearly. Her repeated comment that “Last night did not go well” felt passive aggressive and unprofessional. To us, the night had been perfectly normal. We'd booked Saturday to Monday and were told about the reception in advance. To accommodate it, Leighanne put us upstairs, and we agreed not to use the first floor during the event. On Saturday evening there were no other guests, so we thought we had the house to ourselves. Sunday morning Leighanne came up from the basement, where we hadn't known she lived, and suggested we find somewhere else. I think she felt our three kids had been loud. They were just being kids and hadn't damaged anything. We said we'd eat out that evening and bring them back to bed with as little disturbance as possible, but she still seemed unhappy. Although she left the final decision to us, her strong suggestion made us uncomfortable staying. I'm sure most guests won't have this experience, but families with kids may want to keep it in mind. I was surprised given how well reviewed the place is.

The beds, pillows, and blankets were really comfortable, and the house itself is spacious, beautiful, and well maintained. There were five of us and we had plenty of room, including in the big kitchen and dining area. We also liked having a propane grill. The hostess is bright, educated, and fun, with great stories. We talked about her relatives who served in WW2 on both sides. The TV was hard to operate, and the channel selection was limited, though Netflix and Amazon Prime were available. I enjoyed my three-day stay and would go back.

The Jack 'n Jill Suite had such comfortable bedding that I looked forward to getting into bed each night, and I slept better than I usually do away from home. The house is immaculate, peaceful, and close to everything in Richmond. My friend and I spent three wonderful nights at Seldom Scene Meadow. Breakfast was a treat too. The expanded continental breakfast was nice to anticipate each morning, and we had the full country breakfast one day, which was extra special. The innkeepers made us feel like family, and I loved our evening conversations. Thanks for a lovely stay in your home!

Having my immediate family and bridesmaids together at Seldom Scene the night before my wedding was the best decision. The place felt welcoming and had plenty of rooms and beds for everyone. I loved spending that night with the people closest to me. The hostess was so kind, friendly, and accommodating. I'd recommend this special place for any occasion.
