La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Richmond-Sugarland

The location was handy, right by Buccee's and near several restaurants and the hospital. The room was clean and roomy, pretty much what you’d expect from this chain. Service was good and room service did a nice job. The pillows were comfortable, though the towels weren’t very soft, and the A/C could have been colder.

This La Quinta feels welcoming and well cared for, and it has a character that sets it apart from the other La Quintas I’ve been to. The rooms are very clean, too. The young woman at the front desk was professional, kind, and really helpful. I’d absolutely recommend staying here. Such a nice place.

Charles at the front desk was so accommodating with all our requests, and everyone was super friendly. The hotel was pleasant, and breakfast was nice and hot. I’d come back here whenever I’m in town. One thing I’d love is access to Netflix on the TVs.

The room was a letdown for the price. It was tiny, with Reese's peanut butter cup wrappers across the floor, pink stains on the carpet, a noisy A/C that looked like it had leaked and left the carpet wrinkled, cobwebs in a corner, and nails sticking out of the full length mirror. The chair was torn up, and the bed, though clean, was so uncomfortable I woke up with a backache. The bathroom was clean, but reaching the toilet paper was a contortionist’s job. My husband had forgotten his toothbrush and was charged for one at the desk. Most hotels provide those free. I’d booked directly through Windham because I wanted a king size jacuzzi suite. At check-in, the woman told me this location doesn’t have jacuzzi suites. She was very sweet and helpful, though, and gets five stars from me. She moved me to a room with a king size bed. The walls were so thin I could hear conversations around us, people getting ice all night, and even the guests above using the bathroom, sink, and shower. Their water was so loud in the pipes it sounded like a waterfall all night, and I wondered if we’d get flooded out. Breakfast was maybe two stars. I’m glad it was available, but the drinks were watered down, there was just one yogurt cup for the whole hotel, the eggs were powdered, and I’d hoped for bananas. I should’ve gone next door to McDonald's. I’ve stayed at lots of La Quinta's, and this was the worst. Next time I’ll choose a different hotel.
