Air View Inn

I booked three nights on a recent visit, but left after the first and got a refund. I moved to Clarion a few miles away, and for the same price the difference was like night and day. I'd stayed at this hotel twice before over the past ten years while visiting the Air Force Museum, and those stays were okay. This time, though, it seemed run-down and the service was poor.

Privacy was a plus, but that was about all. The room was filthy, with roaches and flies, and there were skunks around outside. Nicotine was splattered across the walls. I didn't see bed bugs.

I've come back many times over the past few years because the staff are nice and the rooms are consistently clean. They're stocked with fresh soap, towels, cups, an ice bucket and toilet paper. I've never found anything unwanted in the beds or bathroom, just maybe a fly or two. The ice maker is great, and guests can use the laundry. For the price, it's my favorite place to stay, and I think it deserves more than three stars.

We heard gunshots somewhere down the street while checking in, but the room turned out surprisingly clean. The staff were accommodating enough, especially since my friend and I booked at the last minute, and we were fairly pleased with the service. It felt like an affordable stay for the room and service we got. The downside came before checkout: starting two hours ahead, housekeeping and management knocked about every half hour to remind us of the 11 a.m. checkout. They were having the carpets professionally cleaned.
