Hilton Garden Inn Kansas City Riverside

Friendly staff and a great experience.

I stayed five days and was completely eaten alive by bedbugs or chiggers in the bed. Were the sheets laundered before my stay? I’m guessing not. I’ll never stay at this property again.

The location is great if you’re going to the new amphitheater or sports training center, and the rooms are modern. The indoor pool is a nice extra. There isn’t much dining or entertainment within walking distance beyond the nearby venues, so future guests will want a car. This Hilton Garden Inn had been open for less than two weeks when I checked in, and there were clear opening-week issues. While I was relaxing in bed, a piece of wall molding fell onto it. Later the shower footrest came off the wall. Neither ruined the stay, but together they made it feel like I was part of the final construction punch list. The fitness center wasn’t ready either. Construction materials and equipment were scattered around, so I couldn’t get a workout in. Parking was another surprise. This is the first Hilton Garden Inn I’ve stayed at that charges daily for self-parking. I understand the explanation about nearby concerts and sports events, but at around $195 a night, the hotel is already at the higher end for the brand. I expected more attention to detail and a bit more appreciation as a Hilton Diamond member. Complimentary parking for Diamond members would be a nice touch, especially since there’s little within walking distance. My Diamond status also wasn’t recognized at check-in. No bottled water or welcome snack, just me wondering if my status was on vacation. I shared my feedback with the team, and Gabe and the General Manager deserve credit. They listened, responded professionally, didn’t make excuses, and stood behind the Hilton Garden Inn Promise by making things right. That response earned my respect. Mistakes happen, especially in opening week, and what matters is how the hotel responds. I’d absolutely stay again and plan to. The foundation is there, leadership clearly cares, and I think the property could become a fantastic place once it has a few months to settle in.

It’s 4:30am, and the people next door have been partying since 11pm. The walls are paper thin, and management hasn’t done anything, not even called our room.
