Blockhouse Life

Our house was being worked on, and since I work from home I needed somewhere with an office setup. This place was a great price, pet friendly, and much more comfortable than a hotel. Having a kitchen and washer/dryer was a big plus, and the neighborhood was cute, quiet, and felt safe. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. All my out-of-town visitors will be staying here. 💯

The interiors have a warm feel and a nice look, and the buildings’ modern exterior definitely stands out, especially with decks up top. I drove over from Seattle to experience Blockhouse and was impressed. This is one of Washington’s first communities built with CLT blocks, and I can see the design being popular in other cities. Seems worth considering as an investment.

We only had two summer days here, but the studio was so well furnished and practical that I could see it working for a longer visit. It was peaceful and tucked away, while still right in the middle of a really cool community. My only downside is that this kind of Blockhouse living seems one of a kind. I’d love more locations. 10/10, I’d come back.

The CLT design is appealing, but upkeep and finishes fall short, especially for the fairly high prices compared with places at a similar finish level. We’ve stayed twice and both experiences were sub-par, so we won’t return. There’s a mix of problems in the units, including broken beds and other furniture, plus building issues like leaking roofs. The service people seem to try, but they come across as unprofessional and have tried to enter without notice or permission. Renters, be aware.
