I stayed more than two weeks and would absolutely come back if I needed to. For the room size, the nightly price felt perfect and worth it. The room was more than clean enough for the conditions and limitations of the area. The bed was comfortable, and the bedding underneath was clean, with no major stains or odors. Towels and sheets were fresh, and they’d provide clean ones whenever I asked. I didn’t see a single pest in my room. They sprayed at the start of my stay and across all rooms, and they spray, clean, and update often. Management was also actively updating rooms and deep cleaning while I was there, and did so respectfully. The grounds were very quiet for this area, and disruptions were handled immediately and appropriately. Management was fantastic, accommodating, on site and available, and every interaction I had was pleasant, quick, and effective. There was daily maid service. The room had a mini fridge, microwave, and flat screen TV with basic cable, news, and movies, though I didn’t use the TV. No breakfast, but there was a vending machine for drinks, including water. I didn’t see a snack machine, which is understandable. There’s no laundry for guests, but there’s a laundromat across the street. Lots of restaurants, fast food, stores, markets, and shops are within a short walk. It’s an older, basic place, but roomy, comfortable, clean, and easy. The furniture was dated and used but clean enough. There were no hangers or drawers in the side tables, so I kept my clothes in my suitcase and used the table tops. My room smelled a little like cigarettes, but it wasn’t uncomfortable or off-putting, and my toiletries and food helped cover it. The local motels are older, from when smoking indoors was allowed. The grounds are small, which seems to mean fewer people and a quieter, cleaner place. It has a jacuzzi room and allows stays of up to 29 days. The parking lot might fit one medium-large camper or trailer. The area is what it is, with many people experiencing homelessness and people I’d describe as lost souls or mentally unstable vagrants. Riverside and the county have a serious roach and bedbug problem, especially in this area, which I believe is connected to residents and the high number of homeless and transient people. I understand these motels can’t control who lives on the streets or the damage some individuals cause. Skylark is doing its best to maintain the property and deserves respect for its upkeep and management. Disrespectful use of the property isn’t allowed, and no one was permitted to loiter or disrupt the grounds. I felt completely safe despite the neighborhood. I accidentally left some belongings behind, shoes and a plastic container, and they didn’t charge me for them, unlike some unethical or greedy places. The motel keeps a strong sense of self respect. Grateful for their service. Namaste.
