Island House of Wanchese

We were unsure about booking after reading some negative reviews, but Island House turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The hosts were kind, and each morning they made a tasty breakfast. We even had a homegrown tomato while we were there. In the evenings, coffee or tea and cake, cookies, or both were available for self-service. Our room was nicely decorated, and its bathroom was small but private, which was a big plus. The shower looked a little dated but was clean. The garden outside was nicely arranged too. We’d recommend staying here and would consider it again on a future trip to the Outer Banks NC.

The owners were so friendly, almost like family, and had plenty of useful information and suggestions about the area. We slept well on a firm mattress with good pillows, and everything was very clean. Breakfast was fantastic, with lots to choose from. We’ll be back!

We stayed for a week in late August 2022, and it felt like being at home. Our room was lovely, comfortable, and clean, and the breakfasts came with lots of delicious treats. The people managing this special home made the whole stay wonderful. We’ll come back ❤💫❤

Bernie was an awesome host and a great cook. She pointed us to local restaurants and good places to find seafood, and the breakfast was amazing, with fresh fruit, juice, and all kinds of choices. The staff helped us with everything and showed us to our rooms. The beautiful house felt like it belonged in a movie, and we got a great night's sleep. Thanks so much, we’ll definitely be back! We’d give it 10 stars if we could.
