Motel 6 Rocky Mount, NC

I've been staying here long term and am very happy with management. They've been accommodating and work hard to keep us comfortable and meet our needs. They're also putting a lot of effort into remodeling and improving the motel.

We needed a bed and shower on the way home to NJ from Florida, and I regret not reading the reviews before booking. As I checked in, a dog jumped on me. The bathroom was disgusting, with mold all around, and there were odd stains on the wood floor, the sides of the beds, and even the kamo shades. The bath mat looked like it had been used to clean the floor, and I wouldn't touch the phone without gloves. The hallway looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in months. There was weed smell throughout the elevator and halls, which I wouldn't have minded except that I had my kids with me. At 1:15 am, a dog barking woke us up. We saw three dogs inside the motel, and I'm pretty sure it houses section 8. If I could give it zero stars, I would. You get what you pay for.

Traveling from VA to FL, I decided to spend a day in Rocky Mount after hearing it was a nice, quiet city. I like Motel6, so I chose the Motel6 Rocky Mount. The staff were fantastic, asked about my travels, and seemed to genuinely care about how I was doing. The lobby and reception area were spotless, parking was plentiful, and my room was clean and cozy. Staff said they prioritize guest safety, and I felt secure. There were kids and other families around, which added to the friendly atmosphere. One nice surprise was that coffee, usually available from 6 to 10 AM at Motel6, was offered 24/7. I had a wonderful stay.

I really recommend avoiding this place unless you bring an oxygen mask. The room smelled so bad I wanted to escape, and the odor in the corridor was unpleasant too. Garbage was scattered across the carpet. The bathtub was dirty, and it didn't drain properly. I thought the management standard at MOTEL 6 was consistent, but I was clearly wrong. This is the worst motel I've ever stayed in.
