Travelodge by Wyndham Roanoke

The front desk guy disappeared for about 30 minutes, then came back with, “What you need?” When we raised the room issues, he said, “What did you expect, it's a budget motel.” That pretty much sums it up. The doors and walls had unexplained marks, the bathroom door wouldn't shut or lock, the curtains looked straight out of a horror movie, and the smell was awful. We had just checked in and already wondered if we should cut our vacation short. Never again. Hopefully this keeps someone else from making the same mistake 😬

There was only one pillow for four people, and the floor was so grimy my grandson's white socks turned black underneath. I found a dead roach in the bathtub drain along with hair, and another dead roach on the floor the next morning. There was also about an inch of dirty hair and grime on the doors beneath the bathroom sink. This was the most disgusting place I've ever stayed. I do not recommend it.

I left without staying because the room smelled so strongly that my allergy made it impossible for me to remain there. They wouldn't refund me. Every room seemed to be a smoking room, and when I raised it with staff right away, they said the non-smoking rooms smelled the same. No refund or other fix was offered. Management's response telling me to do that next time was obnoxious, since I'd already done it. Don't book online.

After taking my dog to the emergency vet until 3:30 AM, I came here and had to say “sir” three times before the desk clerk woke up. I asked for a non-smoking room on the bottom floor because my asthma is really bad, but got a smoking room on the second floor instead. The bed had no sheets, there was no smoke detector or trash can, and when I asked to switch, the other room had no working lights. I asked for a refund and was told, “We are a budget friendly hotel.” I said they should at least have working lights. He agreed to refund me, then wanted me to remake the bed because I'd lifted a corner to check for bedbugs. I'd been there less than five minutes, and he kept asking whether I'd used various things in the room.
