Redclyffe Shore Motor Inn

The room was huge, very clean, and comfortable in that old-school way. Check-in felt charming too, with the lovely woman handling registration by hand. What a unique find. If you're ever up north in Maine, definitely plan to stay here.

For only $125, the harbor view from the room is a million-dollar one. The place is clean, and the staff are really friendly. The rooms haven't been updated since the 70s, but who cares?

We stayed two nights and found the rooms very clean. It was a great spot to explore from and come back to at the end of the day. This was a very nice motel, and I'd stay here again if I'm in the area.

The Redcliffe is seasonal, so check that it's open before you plan a stay. I only work in or near Calais a few times a year, and I've struggled to find somewhere there where I feel comfortable. If you've been there, you probably know what I mean. This place worked for me: it's a bit dated, but the rooms are big, it's near the water, and I slept well. They let you know the water is hard, though it wasn't much of an issue for me. I also liked having an air filter unit in the room, and I'd go back.
