Tapoco Lodge has a rustic yet luxurious feel, and the whole place was clean and tidy. The staff were amazing, cheerful, and ready to help. They drove us to the lower floor where the restaurant is and helped carry our luggage since my husband can't do that. We had a few magical days there. I was worried about the lack of an elevator and luggage carts, but the lodge has one ADA room with a roll-in shower and grab bars where needed. It's on the main floor and was very accessible for us. The room is actually two bedrooms, one king and one queen. Breakfast is served in a large, bright room on the main floor, with tables overlooking the river, and you can also eat on the patio outside. Lunch and dinner are served on a lower level, with an indoor dining room and a huge patio above the river, where kayakers and rafters race past the tumbling cascades. Don't miss the pizza or trout. I can't recommend Tapoco Lodge enough.

You'll love it if you're after rustic charm, beautiful scenery, good food, friendly people, and plenty of nature. The rooms reflect the building's historic architecture and feel old and rustic, but they're clean and comfortable, with modern amenities.

Our Christmas stay ended a day early after several problems, although the staff were wonderful, especially resort manager Jamie, who went out of the way to salvage the rest of our visit. We were able to enjoy walking the grounds with our fur baby and use the amenities. We'd stayed at Tapoco about a year earlier after stopping for lunch on our way back from riding the dragon. We liked the resort then, stayed in White Oak cabin, and wanted to see the lodge decorated for Christmas after seeing photos online. Despite the issues, we had a relatively enjoyable stay and plan to return, hopefully in a cabin closer to the river. We arrived late on Christmas Eve to find our cabin keypad wasn't working, and nobody was on site to let us in. We were put in an adjoining cabin, and didn't get into our original one until 10am on Christmas morning, after maintenance changed the keypad battery. Later, we had no heat and needed maintenance again. We ended up with a space heater. It turned out Mountain view cabins 1,2 and 3 share one AC /heating unit, so if one cabin turns on the AC, the other two can't get heat. We joined 30+ other guests for Christmas dinner, which began at 5:30pm. By 7:30p we'd only had the starter and appetizers. We asked to have the rest boxed so we could return to the cabin instead of waiting another hour or so for entrees and dessert. With all that, we left a day sooner than planned. A little information about the lodge: there are laundry facilities, a bar, a restaurant serving world class cuisine, an outside bar, and patio seating that's enclosed and heated in winter, then open air with spectacular river views in warmer weather. There are lots of trails and plenty of seating along the riverbank, including a dedicated smoking section, plus fire pits with wood provided. Our pet-friendly cabin had a mini fridge and keruig. The lodge supplied shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, and hand soap, and the beds were comfy.

We booked Thanksgiving dinner and really enjoyed both the food and the service. Zelerie was kind and attentive, checking on us several times during the meal. We'll definitely come back. Well done, Zelerie and Tapoco!

I've always wanted to stay here, so now I can check it off my list. The lodge rooms are very small, with bare floors and tiny bathrooms that have nowhere to put your things. Service was okay, nothing special, and the food was very average and overpriced. The Tavern is fun, though, with good pizzas and a great beer selection.
