Quality Inn Rochelle

I stayed a week for work and slept well. The place was quiet, the bed was comfortable, the rooms were clean, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast had plenty of good options, though it wasn’t ready when advertised, so I had to come back later. The pool was out of order with no real explanation, and some towels had stains. My shower was fine apart from a very loud, high pitched noise. I’d reserved one king bed but was given two doubles and had to keep them. For the price, it was an okay stay if you don’t mind a few imperfections.

Breakfast was good, but my room wasn’t clean. There was hair in the tub and a nail on the bed sheets, and I don’t have my nails done. The morning front desk woman was wonderful and said she’d speak with the big boss about a discount. Nothing came of it, though. She apologized and agreed it wasn’t acceptable, especially since I’d paid a good amount for a clean room.

We had what we needed for one night, and the rooms were clean. Check-in went great, and since we had two small dogs, the very reasonable pet fee was appreciated. I’d definitely recommend it.

Breakfast was standard, but enjoyable, and staff kept trying to restock it. The room was quiet and clean, with modern furniture, decent towels, and easy access to extra towels when I asked. Still, there were quite a few issues: cracked lampshades, a coffee maker that needs descaling, a dirty ice bucket, stained walls, and paint that needs work. The conditioner in the shower dispenser was empty, the complimentary lotion looked used, and the mini fridge froze our things overnight. Check-in was a pain. They tried to put us in a different room from the one we’d booked, and helped people who arrived after us while sorting it out. We came for NIU’s Family Weekend, and this was the most affordable option, but driving 20 minutes to the school was a downside. Lots of NIU families were in town and more will come. I see potential, but they should modernize more and make sure everything works for busy weekends. Might return if they improve.
