We left without staying, and the hotel kept our $68+. It took almost no time to decide. The outside looked dirty, and the moment we entered the lobby there was a smell of mold, mildew, and dirt. My toddler needed a bathroom, but I couldn't find one in the lobby. While looking, I saw the pool area through the window. The photos show a hot tub, but there isn't one. The pool area looked rusty and unkempt. Online pictures of the place are incredibly and intentionally misleading, including the pool and lobby. (Make sure you are UTD on your DTAP if you stay here.) I was already worried after seeing a Google review from within the previous 5 days reporting bed bugs. My partner asked to cancel and get a refund, but the desk clerk was combative and refused. When my partner mentioned the bed bug review, the clerk said that room had been "boarded" off and gave him a number to call Monday. We went to a different hotel. On Monday afternoon, my partner spoke to a manager named Jessica, who was just as combative or worse. She denied they had bed bugs, despite the clerk's admission the night before, and refused a refund of $68+. There were several reviews from within the past six months with pictures. Maybe the money we left behind can go toward an exterminator. This is a hospital town where people travel from all over for cancer research, trials, and treatment. I'd expect every hotel here to be clean. I can't imagine staying in this place with a sick child who came from across the country for cancer treatment. I wouldn't. The Minnesota Dept of Health needs to investigate this awful hotel. In response to Baymont's reply: I don't know who called about the hot tub, but it wasn't me or my partner. I also don't know what security system you're checking. We never touched the room. We drove around back, parked, and stayed in my RED pickup while I booked a room at a nearby hotel and my partner went to ask the clerk for a refund. Never. Touched. The. Room. More lies from Baymont Inn in Rochester.

The price felt fair for the comfort and amenities, and it fits what I'd expect from a 2-star hotel. Staff were kind and it was easy to extend our booking at the same rate, even when the stay ran from weekdays into the weekend. The suite was cramped, though, smaller than a standard room at most hotels I've stayed in. The cot barely fit. We had to move furniture, climb around it, and couldn't use the kitchenette. There was scratched paint in several spots and water and hair in the tub.

My room was exceptionally clean, with comfortable beds and pillows, and the whitest linens I've ever seen. I was at the far end and didn't hear any noise. There's a very nice, large refrigerator, not one of those tiny cube ones. The lobby and breakfast area are beautiful, and the pool area has been nicely updated. Breakfast was good, and the staff felt like real, down-to-earth people, so friendly. The location is easy to reach, about 1 mile from Mayo, with a shuttle there. Restaurants and shopping are a block away, and it's extremely close to the fairground events. I love the corn cob water tower, and the price is definitely right, very affordable. A couple of things could be better: the ramp up to the hall and elevator has a few drop-offs that could make an older person miss a step or challenge someone using a walker. The east wing hallway and second floor have a smell and could use updating.

On 2/15/26 we were put in room 215, which had no AC. We were tired from a long journey and didn't mind much at first, but by 2/16/26 it was too hot. My two children under three had bright red cheeks and were sweating. We called the desk. The man said maintenance couldn't come that day, so he moved us to room 210. After we moved all our belongings, I went to plug in my charger and caught movement in the corner of my eye. There was a bed bug on the bed. The bathrooms were gross too, with used soap left by other people, blue stuff in the shower, and mold on the shower head. I'm incredibly grossed out. When we called corporate and spoke to the front desk, they refused a refund and wouldn't contact the manager about one. Save your time and money. Don't risk getting attacked by bed bugs. Run, run, run.
