Courtyard Marriott Rochester E

Our office is in Victor, and when Del Monte Renaissance or Residence Inn West Henrietta isn't available, this will probably be my go-to for the value. It's a little better than the average Courtyard, with a decent amount of parking. The gym has a mirror, free weights, and a few newer treadmills.

I've been coming here off and on for more than 30 years. It's a clean, dependable place to stay, and still pleasant. I do miss the hot tub, though. I always enjoyed using it after the drive it takes me to get here.

The location is great, and the staff were all incredibly friendly. My room was clean and updated, but the stay wasn't great for the price or the brand. I just want a decent night's sleep, and that was hard with the loud, steady mechanical rattle from the HVAC. I was put in an accessible room I hadn't booked and didn't need, and couldn't switch rooms. The sink area was tiny, with no space for towels or toiletries, so all the towels were stacked in the tub. At 6 a.m. I turned on the shower to warm it up and it sprayed them all. Funny in a way, but very inconvenient.

Most of the staff were friendly and tried to help. They brought extra coffee when I asked, and the hotel was clean and affordable, so I'd stay again. The food at the restaurant and café was overpriced, inconsistent, and only available at hours that depended on staffing. The pool was on the cold and murky side. The main frustration was mixed messages between shifts. We asked about a late checkout when we arrived and were told 3 or 4 should be possible, but that we'd need to confirm on checkout day. When we asked then, staff seemed irritated and unsurprised that the check-in crew had told us that.
