The staff were friendly, and there’s free parking off the street. It’s an easy walk to the Mayo Clinic, which brought us here, and to plenty of downtown places to eat and hang out. The price was good, but the room felt cramped and very outdated, with pipes everywhere and a window AC unit. It seemed fairly clean. Next time I’d spend more to stay somewhere else.
If being close to the Mayo Clinic matters, the location is hard to beat. Service was friendly and the room was clean, though very dated. The shower was tucked across the room behind folding doors, separate from the little bathroom area with just a toilet and sink. I couldn’t adjust the heat in my room, and it got very warm overnight.
The location downtown was good, and housekeeping was nice, but I’d avoid staying here if you can afford another place. I travel for work year round and this was the grossest room I’ve had, even compared with a Motel 6. The building is old and the room was tiny, barely enough space for my carry-on. The window AC was taped in place, and one night we came back to bugs in the bathroom. You had to slam the bathroom door to close it. Later I noticed water seeped up between the tiles when I stepped on certain spots, and my pajama cuffs kept getting wet by the toilet. The shower was awful. Since the lobby doors lock at night and there’s no key entry, we had to bang on the door around 2 a.m. after a wedding, waking the front desk person from a couch nap to let us in. The person checking us in hadn’t been particularly friendly either. We used mileage points, so the stay was free, but this wasn’t like any other Days Inn I’ve visited.
I’d only choose this place if staying right downtown is the priority. Lots of things are walkable, and the rooms have some character, but everything is old and dated. The rooms seemed mostly clean, though the shower could have been cleaner. It’s an old hotel in the middle of the city.
The staff are helpful and friendly, and it’s handy for Mayo appointments. I tried the fancy hotel across the street afterward and would rather pay much less at Days Inn for about the same room size and renovation age. The attached restaurant is great, and the rooms are clean and quiet. They’re small and nothing special, and the place could use a makeover, but the price is reasonable and I’d stay again. It’s not a luxury stay, just convenient and good enough.
