Hampton Inn Rochester-Greece

The breakfast was good, with plenty of hot and cold choices. I ate at 7 both mornings, so I can't say how it was later, but the hostess stayed busy cleaning and refilling the counters. Parking was plentiful and lit, though watch out for goose poop. The bathroom, shower, and towels were clean. The rooms were clean too, except room 357 smelled like pee between the beds. My daughter noticed it the first night, and I noticed it the second, perhaps because she pointed it out. The beds sagged and need updating. I'd definitely stay again. We booked two nights because my daughter was having surgery at Unity hospital, almost 4 hours from home. I first reserved one night online, then called the number on the back of my Hilton card when I found out we needed two. I thought it had been changed to two nights, but the hotel had booked another room instead of adding a night. Staff fixed it without a problem. I wondered if cancelling that extra room at check-in would cost me a fee, but EDIT: I did not get charged the cancellation fee.

The room itself was nice, with plenty of outlets, but the toilet kept dripping and periodically sounded like it was refilling. We arrived late Friday for a two-night stay and reported it. They said there was no maintenance staff on weekends and the hotel was full, so they couldn't move us. It was hard to sleep with the constant drip, and we had a long drive home after checkout. If housekeeping had been in on Friday morning, I wonder why they hadn't noticed and reported it before we checked in. We were out most of Saturday and returned at 10pm to find the room hadn't been cleaned. My husband went to the desk for clean towels and was told a note on the bathroom mirror said cleaning was only every other day. Neither of us had noticed the small sign, and without our glasses we couldn't have read it. Who wears glasses in the shower anyway? The desk clerk hadn't mentioned the policy at check-in. The hair dryer was extremely sticky, with someone's hair stuck all over it. I don't know why it hadn't been maintained during cleaning.

Breakfast was tasty and easy to grab before heading out each morning. I was here for four nights for a training class, and the clean, comfortable room was a good place to unwind after long days of learning. The front desk staff were especially friendly, professional, and helpful. It was quiet and well kept, I slept well, and had zero issues. A good choice for business or training travel.

Our company books rooms here often, and the desk staff are friendly and welcoming at check-in. Breakfast, though, has been a problem more than once. The hotel says it's served daily from 6-10, but if the employee responsible for prep arrives at 6, don't expect food at 6. At 6:30 there was still no breakfast. You can't promise a meal and then not have it ready. For some people working away from home, it's their only chance to grab something. Just an FYI.
