Quality Inn Rochester Area

For somewhere to sleep, it provides four walls and a ceiling, and the bed was comfortable. I didn’t see bed bugs. Beyond that, the place was far from glamorous, and I managed one night’s sleep, though my wife would have refused to stay. The bed and the roof over my head are the only reasons I gave it three stars. I travel for work, and my company booked this stay. I don’t usually post grumpy reviews, but I want to be honest. There was a strong, foul smell as soon as I walked in, like chlorine mixed with musty carpet. On the third floor, different colored patches covered the walls and made the place look barely standing. The elevator’s grinding noise was unsettling. In my room, the shower head had calcium buildup, the towels smelled funny, and the AC couldn’t cool the room. I had to sleep without covers to get some rest.

For the price, this hotel is pretty good, and it was very clean. The fridge, microwave, and linens were all clean, and the pool was nice, clean, and spacious. I was disappointed that the hot tub jets didn’t work. It’s pretty run down and needs updating, especially the bathrooms. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling that should be dealt with, and the shower made a horribly loud screech when turned on. There was spackle all over the walls, holes everywhere, scratched furniture, and a wobbly table.

The pool and hot tub were grodie and really need cleaning. Everything else was good: the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean, and breakfast was great. They also get you a free Uber to and from the Mayo, which was a game changer with the construction.

We were glad we gave them another chance and will use them again soon. Our school placed our kids here, even though I’d planned never to return after my last stay. The rooms are much nicer now, breakfast was great, and the staff were great. It was massively improved from last year, almost like a completely different hotel and experience. I don’t know if they switched management or what.
