The rooms were spacious, spotless, and well cared for. Even the kitchen silverware and glasses were clean, and the little shop by the elevators was so well arranged that picking up a few essentials was actually enjoyable. The common areas were bright and clean, and the hallways smelled just as pleasant as the lobby. The staff were lovely and accommodating throughout. We’ve been coming to Rochester for my medical care for years and usually stay at the nearby Courtyard Marriot for its location near St Mary’s hospital. On this visit, we tried the Berkman after noticing the new building on campus, and had a wonderful stay. I had surgery and was inpatient for two days, so we checked out and returned to find a fresh room ready for my recovery. They were understanding about adjusting our reservation, which we really appreciated. Red Cow downstairs is delicious. I highly recommend the Berkman for a short term stay, and think it’s a wonderful addition to the campus of the best hospital in the world.

A huge, super clean place to recover after surgery, with more than 1000 square feet to spread out in. The hospital put us up here at no charge. It was a 2bdrm pent house suite with 2 full baths and a full kitchen already stocked with everything we needed. WOW.

We had a good sized balcony with a table and two chairs, and coffee was provided in the well appointed room. There’s also a card access shop with plenty of food and refrigerated items. Service was great. The Mayo Clinic downtown is a short drive away, and there’s a good choice of restaurants within walking distance.

The room was clean, but despite what the website description said, it had no technology at all. The A/C didn’t work, and the balcony door wouldn’t lock even though we had a toddler with us. The maintenance man said he’d fixed it so it couldn’t be opened, but at 8pm my toddler jiggled the handle and opened the door wide. We asked the front desk for a full refund and left. Check in was off putting too. Three people were chatting behind the counter. One looked at me, turned away, and kept talking, so I had to say loudly, “Can I please check in.” A guy helped reluctantly. Later we found the hallway smelled of incense and curry. Without a kid, this place might be okay, assuming you don’t have asthma, because the hallways are very bad. The front desk staff made us feel like a complete inconvenience. The maintenance guy was nice, though he’d been one of the three chatting and ignoring me when I first tried to check in.
