Cambria Hotel Rock Hill - University Center

We were in town for a weekend event at the Rock Hill Event Center, so the hotel’s proximity worked well. Our room on the sixth floor was carpeted and seemed allergen-free, with a nicely remodeled bathroom and room. We had a good time at the rooftop bar one evening, and the ice machine worked well several times. I didn’t use the fitness center, though it looked in good shape.

The room is beautiful, but I won’t be back. They charged an undisclosed $100 for something, and no one mentioned it at check-in, which left me with a problem during my stay. The manager wouldn’t return it while I was there and said it would take seven days. I drove in from out of town for a wedding, and this is how guests are treated?

My wife and I arrived to a room that wasn’t very clean, but we didn’t make an issue of it. After we went to bed, though, she woke with bites and welts all over, and I had several on my face and chest. They worsened through the day, and my wife developed a fever. At urgent care, a doctor confirmed the bites were from insects. We contacted the hotel right away, but the manager didn’t respond. Corporate sent me back to the general manager, who still hasn’t returned my call. The lack of accountability is unbelievable. I work for a large company with offices nearby, and employees regularly travel to our main office. I’ll strongly recommend removing this hotel from our approved lodging list. There’s no excuse for an insect infestation and rooms in this condition, especially at a property that hasn’t been open very long. Stay somewhere else.

The room was spotless, up to date, and had a very comfortable bed. I got one of the best nights of sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel. The whole stay felt relaxing and well thought out, and every interaction with the friendly, attentive staff was welcoming and professional. My only regret is that I didn’t book a longer stay. Complimentary breakfast may be a thing of the past, but everything else more than made up for it. I’m looking forward to visiting Cambria again.
