Radisson Hotel and Conference Center Rockford

The room I booked for my Father was very nice, and he had a good experience. My own stay left me embarrassed and out of pocket, though. I had reserved a loft style suite for myself so I could have birthday cake with my father and his wife at the hotel and use the pool. I’m a Diamond level Choice member and often stay at Choice hotels, so I used about 62,000 points for the room. I got email confirmation and reminders for the reservation, but when I arrived they said the room wasn’t available. First they said it wasn’t ready, then they said it simply wasn’t available. I spoke with the hotel manager by phone, and we agreed I’d get my points back and some extra points for the trouble. None ever came. I filed a complaint with Choice Hotels Corporate and never heard back. To this day, I haven’t received a response or reimbursement for points spent on a room I never got. I had to move the surprise birthday cake somewhere else. If this is how they treat a loyal member, I’d be wary of how they treat new customers. I’d still like the points returned, though I’m not holding my breath.

My family and I have stayed here many times over the years and usually haven’t had any issues. We book a room for New Year’s Eve every year so the kids can swim. This time, Marcus questioned whether we were planning a party. We’ve never had one, caused a disturbance, or been a problem, and my sister works here, so we’d never risk her job by having a party. I found it tasteless and insulting to suggest we’d cause trouble. I wonder how many other people got asked the same thing when booking.

Forest City Pub is right on site and had great food and service. The room was spacious and clean, and the staff were super kind and accommodating. This place raised the bar for a three-star hotel.

The people were nice, and the room was clean and quiet. There are lots of restaurants nearby, including the Hard Rock Cafe. It was a shame the hot tub was out of order.
