Hampton Inn Rome

The lobby lounge TV seems to be for staff to watch their shows while they work. The whole place felt unwelcoming, and staff were rude and unhelpful even with simple requests. Service clearly wasn’t a priority. Our room was dirty, with mold in the bathroom and stains everywhere. I wouldn’t stay here unless they make serious improvements to the service and staff training.

The noise was awful on top of everything else. Guests next door yelled all night, and people above kept banging things. I was in town for a conference and had booked three nights at the Hampton Inn. When I first entered my room, I saw several bugs, mold at the bathroom sink (see picture), and toilet paper in the toilet. After going out, I came back to find more bugs. I asked the front desk to move me, but she said she could only come look at them, which wouldn’t solve anything. Customer service said I might be compensated but still couldn’t change rooms, so I had no choice but to stay that night. The next morning I had to argue with Expedia to leave early and get a refund. Expedia approved it but said the hotel had to confirm. I’m now waiting to hear from the manager. I’ve stayed at other Hampton Inns that were extremely nice, so this was really disappointing.

My coworkers warned me about the woman who works the front desk during the day. I hoped maybe she’d just had a bad day when they encountered her. I was wrong. She’s rude and curt, and makes you feel like you should be grateful she’ll do anything that’s part of her job. She came across as very entitled.

The room was filthy: dirt on the floor, marks on the headboard and curtains, holes in the lampshade, and a bathroom vent clogged with dust. Breakfast had watery apple juice, there were no coins for laundry, and digital keys stopped working after a day. Skip this place.
