Ramada by Wyndham Rome/Verona

The location is right on a major road, and the advertised Dennys was closed, with a run-down building. Inside, the mildew and mold smell hit me immediately and got stronger in the corridors beyond unsecured glass doors. My room was dirty, with hair, dust, and mildew in the bathroom. There seemed to be food scraps in a closet corner, and the rug was unraveling. The heater filters had about two inches of dust and spores on them. I washed them in the tub, where the water drained at a snail's pace and left a thick layer behind. The poor air quality was already bothering my sinuses. I photographed everything and showed the front desk at checkout. They said the heaters are cleaned daily and they'd follow up with housekeeping, but the buildup on the filters and heater front suggested otherwise. When I asked if they were concerned about guest health and safety or what they'd do to fix this, I got no answer beyond following up with housekeeping. There was no apology or sign of concern. They said I had to request a refund through the third party because I'd booked that way. Ramada used to be a reputable name, but this location doesn't represent it well. They quickly put a $100 hold on my card for incidentals, as if they had no responsibility. I'll follow up with Ramada corporation, hotels.com, and other oversight agencies because I believe this place poses a risk to paying guests. This is the true definition of the fleecing of America.

It's a grungy, low-quality hotel and definitely not somewhere I'd bring a family. The day staff weren't very friendly, either. My checkout was noon, but the guy made me leave at 11. I wanted to wait until 1 for my company to pick me up, and they wouldn't let me. Charging $30 for late checkout is ridiculous. Find somewhere better.

The dust was about an inch deep on every surface, there was hair all over the bathtub, and blood on the sheets. The beds and ceiling were covered in black mold, too. It was obvious the room hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. I was completely disgusted and would strongly recommend avoiding this place. At this point, it's beyond a health hazard.

The place was run-down and felt unsafe from the moment I arrived. There's a bullet hole in the front entrance, right where the picture shows it greeting you. People were smoking everywhere, there was a loud party in the middle of the day, and I saw drug use on the property. There were also large dogs being walked that their owners couldn't control.
