Dutch Treat Motel

The area is beautiful, and with Sight and Sound right across the street, this could be a gold mine. The owner is down to earth and a nice guy, and we want him and his family to do well. We’ve been coming here on and off for probably 7 years, but haven’t seen improvements in that time apart from new toilets. I won’t be specific about what really needs work. We’ll come back one more time and see. It’d be great to have seating at the front of the motel on 897, where you could watch the Amish drive by like at Bird in Hand Inn.

It’s never been a fancy place, but after this trip there’s nothing to recommend it. The bed was old and lumpy, though the shower did have hot water. There was chipping paint, no ice, and no coffee, and the place feels old and very run down. We’ve stayed here over the years, but won’t return.

AJ and his family were so awesome and accommodating, which was refreshing. This is a great location at a great price, and a friendly, family oriented, no frills place to stay. It’s an inexpensive Mom and Pop old style motel that could use some sprucing. If you’re looking for a top notch full service stay, this probably isn’t for you.

We’d booked three nights but left after the first one. The room was unsanitary, with garbage under the bed, including a used flosser and a used baby bottle nipple, and stains on the bedding. It was absolutely disgusting. I don’t think the rooms were cleaned at all. The garbage in the ice room hadn’t been taken out between our arrival and departure.
