Sheraton Chicago O Hare Airport Hotel

We were happy with our stay, especially because it’s close to the airport’s long-term parking and shuttle. We’ll stay again, though the place could use a refresh. The staff were friendly, helpful, and very nice. Our room was comfortable, but could use updating, and some elevator buttons don’t light up.

Breakfast wasn’t included in the room rate, and the included option was pretty basic, with instant eggs. Plenty of other places offer that kind of breakfast, even with a cheaper rate. Still, everything went smoothly with the park-and-fly deal for seven nights. I checked in late just to sleep, and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were accommodating during check-in. If I need to fly from O’Hare and leave my car for more than a couple of days, I’d stay here again without hesitation.

The room had lots of business-friendly touches, including a height-adjustable table and plenty of outlets in the living area. The bedroom was less convenient, with just one nightstand and not enough outlets for two people. We stayed before an early flight and used the parking package. The garage is a short walk away, but it was definitely easier and cheaper than parking at the airport. It was a nice stay, and I’d come back for airport access.

This was extremely disappointing, and shame on them. We’ve stayed here before when flying through ORD, and we’ve been loyal to Marriott for years. I have titanium status, and we also own vacation properties. Last Friday we decided at the last minute to stay overnight rather than drive home. We checked in around 9-10 p.m. and left Saturday at about 8:30-9 a.m. An hour after leaving, I realized I’d forgotten an item in the room and called right away. I can’t prove what happened, but the timing and the way everyone acted left me believing staff had my property while denying it. The young woman at the front desk, whose name I didn’t catch because of her thick accent, sounded in a hurry to end the call. I asked if someone could retrieve the item and keep it behind the desk for us to pick up. She said that wasn’t possible, but offered to reactivate our mobile key and said she’d tell housekeeping not to clean the room if we returned by 2 p.m. We got back by noon. Our name was still on the TV, so we appeared to be checked in, and we’d been assured no one would enter. Yet housekeeping had already cleaned the room. A housekeeper was still working on the floor. When I asked whether she’d cleaned our room, she paused, tried to call someone from the room she was cleaning, then checked her clipboard and confirmed she had. She said she hadn’t seen the item. We searched the room again and found nothing. At the front desk, the associate also seemed nervous. After walking back and forth to the offices and trying to “call someone,” she said nothing had been turned in. The whole interaction felt very odd, as though they were working together. I’d been told the key would work until 2 p.m. and that housekeeping wouldn’t enter, but the room had been cleaned before we returned. When I called, the front desk wouldn’t retrieve the item for us. That’s why I suspect someone had it, though I have no proof.
