We left because the room we were eventually offered didn’t have the kitchenette we’d booked. The first room was 80 degrees because its AC didn’t work. In the next one, the AC barely ran and the room was 75 degrees. When I asked if it might cool further, they told us to turn off the lights and TV and it might get cooler. After I explained that we were in town for a week and needed a comfortable room, they moved us to a third room with working AC, but without the kitchenette. A few other things stood out. The halls were very dim, and on closer look the floors were so disgusting it seemed the lighting hid them. The kitchenette wasn’t stocked with a single pot, pan, plate, glass, or utensil. The front desk staff weren’t friendly.
They have a weight room, but the place has a lot of unused space and very little to do. There are no public restrooms on any of the three floors. The indoor putt putt course, salon, bar, and batting cages are all closed, and there aren’t hot tubs in the rooms. Whoever handles cleaning isn’t doing a good job, either. I like this place and think it could be the best hotel around, aside from casino hotels, if someone gave it the attention it needs. They should reopen the golf course and add a restaurant and bar. Right now it feels like a gold mine being left to fall apart, and it needs an operations manager.
The only partly negative thing I noticed was that the huge parking lot could use better lighting. I arrived after dark, it was half full, and the mixed reviews had left me unsure what to expect. Check-in was quick and easy, and the attendant was pleasant and professional. I also met the general manager, who was friendly, professional, and smiling when we talked. The lobby was updated, clean, quiet as a church, and had no odd smells. My first-floor room was right next to the lobby, but I never heard doors, conversation, music, or TVs. It was updated, clean, and well laid out, and the bed was extremely comfortable. I didn’t even need the linens I always bring with me. The hotel is convenient for shops, restaurants, and the highway. For the price, you can’t beat it for what I’ve mentioned. I travel a lot and have stayed in every sort of hotel around the country, and I’ll definitely return when I’m in the area.
It feels safe and comfortable here. The customer service is polite, and someone is always at the desk when I need help. In all the times I’ve stayed, I’ve never been told my room or reservation was canceled, and I’ve never been turned away. The location is great, too.
The staff really made the best of our stay. Everyone we spoke with was patient, helpful, and accommodating. They let us change rooms when the AC didn’t work and were patient when our keycards gave us trouble. The linens were clean, small soap and shampoo were provided, and the Wi-Fi was fast. The rooms themselves were rough. We weren’t there long, the price was hard to beat, and we made do, but the soundproofing was nonexistent, the ceiling leaked, and various items were broken or missing. We had no safety or security problems, though I can’t say whether that’s true for everyone. The odd layout had no windows facing outside, just windows facing a dim indoor mini putt area. The hotel and rooms could use work, but the staff were 10/10.
