Red Roof Inn Detroit - Roseville/ St Clair Shores

I went to the front desk, but the man there seemed to think the state of the room was normal and not surprising. He said something I couldn’t understand. The room I stayed in last night was filthy, dusty, disgusting, and smelled awful. I started coughing and couldn’t breathe, though I didn’t realize the smell was the problem until I looked under the bed. It looked like a trashcan, as shown in the pictures. It wasn’t worth paying 70 USD to stay even an hour. You could easily get sick in rooms like this.

I travel with my baby and ESP, so the pet-friendly policy with no extra charge matters a lot to me. I’ve stayed here 3-5 times a year when visiting the Detroit area, and after having issues before, I’ve seen a vast improvement on my last two visits. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the whole facility has been remade. The lobby is bright and clean. The management team is the same, but the service and facilities have improved. I’ll keep staying here. Thank you, management, for the big improvements. Please keep them coming, and leave a few more towels.

When I extend my stay, I have to wait for my sheets to be washed before I can get clean ones. I’d like to have fresh sheets right away so I can be comfortable throughout my stay.

I slipped and fell coming off the bottom step during heavy rain. There were no “careful wet” signs anywhere around the property. My key stopped working three times in two days, and when it was reactivated the second time, the clerk implied it was because checkout was near. Checkout is at 11, and my belongings were still in the room. I’d paid to stay there, so I shouldn’t be hurried out. There are no smoking signs around the building, but housekeeping were smoking cigarettes behind the lobby counter. It felt unprofessional and tacky. The original room was filthy and hadn’t been cleaned. I used to be a housekeeper, so I know the shortcuts lazy housekeepers take. The toilet seat was up and the toilet was covered in urine, the sheets had crumbs and hairs, and there were smears of god knows what on the counters and walls. They gave me another room.
