DoubleTree by Hilton Roseville Minneapolis

The pool and hot tub were the highlight, honestly among the best we've had at a hotel. The pool water was warm and everything was clean. The location is convenient, with groceries, food, and other things nearby. Staff were pleasant as well.

I spent 40k points for a night that was supposed to be comfortable and relaxing after a very stressful day, but it was a real bummer. The hotel was sold out, so I couldn't switch rooms. Weed smell came through the adjoining door from the room next to mine. The bed rocked like a teeter totter because it didn't sit flat on its foundation. The bathroom was tiny and dark, with no exhaust fan to clear humidity after a shower. The room itself was dark and dingy, with bubbling wallpaper and poor lighting. I've never had a bad night at a Hilton, but two back-to-back nights at two different Hiltons wasn't how I expected my trip out of town to go.

The room was clean, and most of the staff were pleasant. One morning I ordered a latte at the Starbucks counter, but the employee said he was too busy and could only give me drip coffee. It came off as a little rude, though maybe he was having a bad day. Either way, the drip coffee was good. I'd stay here again on my next trip.

The room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and it stayed quiet. The toiletries were replenished well, too. Staff were friendly in the brief interactions we had, and the location worked fine. Still, most of the room feels worn and dated. The furniture has clearly seen better days, the floor grout needs attention, and the lighting is gloomy. With the shower and TV as exceptions, it needs an update. I travel often and usually choose Hilton, but this place doesn't feel worth the price. More Motel 6 than Double Tree.
