Hilton Garden Inn Austin/Round Rock

The girl at the front desk was very polite, tried to address my concerns, and even gave us a discount. Still, I can’t recommend this hotel. In our first room, the floor felt unstable and the room was off level. The second room on the third floor was better, but much of that floor smelled like mildew. There’s no bathroom ventilation, mold was growing, and we found hair on the bathroom walls and half a hamburger bun beside the bed. I told staff the room didn’t need cleaning and that there was food in it. They cleaned it, but left the bun behind. The food was eventually removed, but we also found underwear from previous guests at the end of our stay.

My room and the service were great, but other parts of the hotel felt like a converted Comfort Inn. The elevator moved slowly. I stayed on the second floor, where there was a musty smell, and the hallway carpet seemed to have lost its padding down the middle. It left a long trench that my foot kept catching as I walked from my room.

The staff were super nice, and the hotel is close to the freeway and lots of food, but the rooms were awful. I was there for a week and won’t stay again. The breakfast was terrible every morning, so cereal and milk were all I ate for breakfast the rest of the week. My first room had a roach and a faucet that didn’t work, so I was moved. The next room had mold in the bathroom. Two of the three fridges didn’t work, which meant my ice cream melted. From the second floor, you can hear everything above you. I was disappointed, especially since this is a Hilton property and didn’t meet the standard at all.

The food from the kitchen was great, and Marco, Eduardo, and Kim were amazing. Across my three nights, I got fantastic service from some of the best people I’ve come across at a Hilton anywhere in the country. The rooms were good too. The only negative was the shower heads, which had issues with water pressure and spread.
