The staff, or owner, was pleasant and accommodating. Our room was in the other building, and its condition was better than I expected: the linens and towels were clean, and the bathroom, though old and small, was clean too. But there was a cigarette smell in the room despite a no-smoking sign. The place looks run-down, with overgrown bushes taking up some parking space and a broken gutter hanging from the roof. There are two buildings, and people seem to live in some rooms in the one at the back. The lobby was filthy, and the website photos of it and the exterior are misleading. I thought $85 plus tax was too much for this motel. It could be decent, and probably once was, if the owners put some care into it.

For the price, it was a great deal, though there’s no free breakfast and it wasn’t the nicest hotel I’ve stayed in. The place was clean and warm, with good shower pressure. The beds were small and the showers tiny, and my girlfriend thought the towels hadn’t been washed.

I’ve had no issues with my room since day one, and it’s nice. The owner, Sid, is friendly, polite, and very helpful when I need him. He really cares about the people staying here. I’d recommend the Highlander to friends and family.

We paid a decent price, and the room was bright and clean. The staff were very friendly too. But our non-smoking room smelled of smoke, and even after deodorizing it we couldn’t get rid of the odor. It did the job, but I wouldn’t stay here on my next trip to the area.

The location is handy for getting to the ski resorts, but that’s about the only plus. There’s nowhere to hang wet gear, which is a real downside on a ski trip. The small room has furniture placed awkwardly, and the tiny bathroom has just a one-person shower in the corner with no counter space. Not worth the price.
