Budget Inn Suites

It's still clean enough and maintained well enough that I'd recommend it as an unusual, appealing place to stay. But it isn't as well kept or clean as it was under the original owner. An older woman started it as the "Residence Inn" because rooms had kitchens, and some even had separate rooms. Back then, she kept a close eye on the whole place, like a shepherd with her flock. It's now owned by Budget Inn and Suites.

The room smelled moldy, and I couldn't sleep all night because the bed creaked whenever I shifted sides. The blanket and pillows were really dirty.

I felt at home here and would come back. The rooms are quite spacious, and the kitchenette is a nice size, with a two-burner stove, refrigerator, microwave, sink, and a low bar-style table with two chairs that also works as counter space. There's a cabinet above and two below for food. I also liked having a bathtub so I could soak, as I do at motels. My four-star rating reflects the cleanliness, though the standard overnight amenities are limited. There's no in-room coffee or coffee pot, the showerheads need a full upgrade, and the bathroom has neither a window nor a fan, when it really needs one or the other.

It's a decent place to stay, quiet and peaceful by day and especially at night. I gave it three stars partly because they've cleaned it up since the days when it was trashy because of all the hookers from Auburn blvd. But the owners seemed weird to me. After my boyfriend and I stayed one day, the owner told us we couldn't book another. He said we were too messy, and they didn't hire maids to clean rooms every day. He and his wife did the cleaning themselves. They refused to rent to us again because we might have gotten a couple of towels too dirty and had a big load of belongings while we were moving. I thought that was completely unfair.
